           Formal Dress  code

You have one chance to make a first impression and the way you dress is what people see the first.

  • Being dressed a little too formally is a better bet than being even semi-casual: being casual depicts a casual attitude in life, which could be taken for “lack of commitment.”
  • Avoid short skirts, tight sweaters, sloppy overalls and sandals with straps: You’re going for work, not a picnic.
  • Go for light, thin fabric that breathes easily and falls well: It keeps you cool, and makes you feel comfortable. And if you are comfortable, you can concentrate on what you’re saying, instead of where you’re itching.
  • Wear well-cut and well-tailored clothes, whether they are formal trousers, knee-length skirts with a shirt and/or jacket, or a salwar kameez. It adds polish to your personality.
  • Add style to your dress. You could throw a scarf in Western wear. Makes people feel you have a personal style.
  • Check your outfit for holes, tears, stains, scuffs or wrinkles: Badly ironed or old clothes make you look either unconcerned, or poor. And frankly, you’ll never get a job for sympathy.
  • Inspect your hair, nails, hems and the shine on your shoes: It makes people feel respect yourself and hence, they respect you.
  • Carry a nice briefcase or folio. Leave the oversized, disorganized handbag that can’t find anything at home. You don’t want to empty your bag (with lipsticks, nailpolish, sanitary napkins) in front of others. Or worse, you don’t want to grope, and keep giving apologetic smiles when you can’t find something.
  • Tone down your makeup. Too well done up could look bad if you sweat a lot, and make you look like a tart.
