Upkaar Ka Phal

In a village in Kashmir lived a poor, kind hearted widow who would help anybody who came to her for help. Nobody returned empty handed from her house. She would spend all her money in the service of people and animals.

One day she finds a wounded bird and takes care of the bird till it is fit enough to fly. Days go by and she grows old and poor and does not even have enough money for two meals a day. Then one day the same bird she had cared for comes to her and gives her a seed. The old lady plants the seed in her garden. A weary traveler   comes to her house one day but she has nothing to give him. She goes to the garden and is surprised to find a huge water melon where she had planted the seed. When she cuts open the water melon it is full of precious stones and jewels. The traveler  tells her that this is a reward for her being a generous person and now she need never be poor again.
