In a remote village of Kashmir there lived a tailor with his three
sons and a goat. The tailor would work in his shop and his sons would take the goat grazing
everyday. The cunning goat would tell lies to the tailor every evening that his sons
mistreated him.
One day
believing the goat , the tailor throws his sons out of the house. The sad boys leave the
house and go looking for work. The eldest son gets a job in a carpenters shop. The second
son gets work at a rice mill and the third son works in a grocery shop. Days pass and the
sons work hard to please their respective bosses. One day the eldest and the second son
decide to go and meet their father. The eldest
sons employer gives him a table that would produce food by magic when asked for and the
second sons employer gives him a donkey that produces gold coins when asked for.
The
brothers on their way to meet their father stay overnight at a rest house. The owner of
the rest house on learning the specialty of the table and donkey switches them with
another table and donkey while the brothers are sleeping. On reaching their destination,
the brothers learn they have been duped. They write to the youngest brother telling him
about the incident. The youngest brother gets a magic rope and stick from his employer
when he leaves home. He stays at the same rest house whose owner once again tries to
exchange the rope and stick but to his amazement the rope ties his hands and the stick
starts beating him up. The owner begs forgiveness and returns the donkey and the table to
the younger
brother.
