There
once lived a king who had an old but wise minister. The respect the old minister received
from the king had become the cause of jealousy
for the other ministers of the court. To prove his old ministers worth in front of the
other ministers, the king thought of a plan.
The king
sends his ablest minister to his gardener who has a bitch and tells him to find out about
the bitch. The minister returns with the news that the bitch has given birth to a litter
of puppies. When the king asks how many, the minister again rushes to the gardener. When
the minister returns, the king asks him how many of the pups are male and how many are
female. The minister again rushes back. Then the king asks about the colour , then about
the breed , then what the gardener feeds them and for each question the minister would
rush back to the gardener to get the answer.
The
king then asks his old minister to go to the gardener and get the news of the bitch. The old minister in one visit gets all the
information about the bitch and her pups. The king is very pleased and thus proves to the
other ministers that the old minister is wiser than the rest of them.
