Kambar is the Joshua Literary award-2005 winner

Kannada literary giant Padmasri Dr. Chandra Sekhar Kambar is the winner of 9th Joshua Sahithya Puraskaram –2005, announced Joshua Foundation Chairman Gnanapeeth Awardee Dr. C. Narayana Reddy at a press conference today.

He said that Dr. Kambar is a prolific poet, Play wright and novelist of a rare eminence. He was the first Vice-Chancellor of the Kannada University, Hampi. Dr. Kambar has received Sahitya Akadami award for his play ‘Sirisampige’ in 1991 and Sangeet Natak Akadami Award in 1983 as best playwright, Dr. Reddy added. Dr. Kambar has 50 works to his credit which include 22 plays, 9 collections of poems, 4 novels and 15 research works.

Mrs. Hemalata Lavanam, daughter of Poet Joshua, and the founder Secretary of the Foundation, said the Joshua foundation has started giving the awards in 1995, and eight awards were given to various language poets in the Country. She said the award winner will get a memento and one Lakh Rupees money. She said the award distribution will be on Joshua’s 110 birth day function on September 28. Steatadenoma internodal planishing.
