MRPS holds dharna in front of APPSC
Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi held
a dharna in front of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC)
and submitted a memorandum to its Chairman demanding the commission to stop recruitment of all the SC vacant posts until the SC Categorization
Act was adopted by the Parliament.
Addressing the demonstrators, Mr.
P. Krupakar Madiga, founder General Secretary, said that injustice was
meted out to the Madigas in the recruitment of SC vacant posts so far.
He said that Madiga was a most backward sub-caste among the SC
community. Though they constituted 70 percent of the community, they
were not getting jobs in proportion to the population. He regretted that
the existing reservation system has failed to serve the sub-caste. He
opined that categorization would benefit the sub-castes of Madiga,
Dakkali, chindu and Bindla in all aspects.
Referring to the State
Government’s announcement to fill up 17,000 vacant teacher posts, he
said that if the Government recruits the posts without categorization,
it would adversely affect the interests of the Madigas. He regretted the
A.P.P.S.C. releasing Group-2 examination selection list and demanded the
commission to stop the recruitment to all the vacant posts until the
categorization Act was made.
Mr. B. Srinivas Madiga, State Secretary
of Madiga Yuva Sena, Mr. D. Pavan Kumar, State Vice-President, A.P.
Madiga Employees Association and others were present.
