  Vineet Kumar

Vineet Kumar, a 22 year NIFTian is one of the up coming Fashion Designers in Hyderabad. He has won the ‘Best Construction Award on the basis of Quality Analysis’ for his pass-out collections at NIFT. He is a Designer-cum-Product Manager for Womenswear at Cotstyle (a GTN group company).

Vineet oozes with confidence to say ‘Yes’ when asked if he could design garments for all age groups in India. He is all set to take on the world of fashion.

What is your inspiration to design clothes?

Anything on this earth can inspire me to design a fabric.
It can be a nail or for that matter a spoon, plastic bucket, pen etc. I love to explore the world

for new things. I design garments for all age groups and can do it the ethnic way as well as western.

What is your design philosophy?

For me designing is an exploration. Exploration is an obsession. The more I design, the more I want to...

What took you to NIFT?

I was always good at drawing and painting. I happened to see one of
my friends’ work at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
It was then I realized to gear up myself and join NIFT.
Thanks to him.

What are the colours you use the most?

I enjoy working on White, Beiges and other pastel colours.
These colours suit my Design philosophy.

Do you think Hyderabad is ready to take on the fashion world?

I’m very happy to come to Hyderabad. It is fast approaching Delhi,
Mumbai and Bangalore along with Chandigarh and Pune. The people here have become more inclined towards buying designer
stuff and are becoming very fashion conscious. Hyderabad provides the right platform for any budding designer to make a mark in the highly competitive fashion world.

What are your ambitions?

I want to be an indispensable designer for a big organization and take brand promotion to great heights. I want to expose myself to the market abroad and use this experience to achieve my ambitions in India.

What do you think of the fashion scene in India?

Various Indian crafts are decomposing and I think the Government should help the artisans gain potential. The Government at present is not doing enough to promote fashion in India. India has great amount of craft, which, if utilized properly would
make wonders and help the designers to compete with international fashion brands.
