Jani and Sandeep Khosla are designers' designers. All the designers of India can
understand and appreciate them
Likes of Bond girl Sophie Marceau, who wears
Jani and Khosla in The World Is Not Enough, and co-actress Dame Judi Dench, who
actually came down all the way to India to pick up her Oscar '99 outfit .
Their success, is so visible due to their
ability to capture the grandeur and the aesthetics of the past and blend them with modern
sensibilities. Which, of course, produces the kind of work Dench was so happy to wear.
Among their successes, Jani and Khosla believe in revival and recreation of the ancient
crafts of zardosi, chikan and mirror-work embroidery, adapting them into fluid works of
art, splendid to look at, opulent to the extreme, and always, wearable.
"We believe in creating the most
flamboyant, unashamedly extravagant outfits. If we could say so, in presenting a totally
glamorous version of life for people who have forgotten how to dream."
They're opening another window for their work
as they are planning to expand retail operations into the UK and the USA, they work with
Shakira Caine's Save the Children, and the Richard Gere's Art of Giving charities.
