He's
most well-known export to the West from the Indian fashion world. One of the first
Indian designers to show his ready-to-wear at the Collections Premiers, his latest
achievement is Dusseldorf which is showcasing his new line alongside designer Jil Sander.
A few feathers in his cap are the likes of
Yukta Mookhey, Diana Hayden, Aishwarya Rai - all of whom prepared for international beauty
pageants. Besides He also works for Sheetal, one of Mumbai's largest ready-to-wear stores
with catalogues that have an amazingly high NRI penetration. Alongside he also teaches
designing for Indian design minds, as lecturer at the prestigious Premlila Vithaldas
Polytechnic in Mumbai.
He is a graduate from the Western Australian
Institute of Design in Perth, Trevedi happened to be the only male student to graduate
ever in the Institute, returned to Mumbai in 1979, leading Mumbai's evolution of fashion
alongside James Ferreira and Ritu Kumar. Along the way, his hair dyed totally blue, he
worked on top advertising campaigns such as Bombay Dyeing and Garden Vareli before
discovering a new passion: choreography - indeed, his fashion presentations have not only
won him accolades in India, but also in the Middle East, Europe, USA, Far East and China.
