Allari Pidugu
Cast :Balakrishna , Katrina Kaif , Charmy ,
Review : In Allari Pidugu, Balakrishna has tried to shed away from his mass image and cater to family audiences. He succeeds in this part but the film disappionts his regular fans and the general audiences. The old style of screenplay (written by Parachoori Brothers), the prolonged weak climax tests the patience. Hero Balakrishna’s performance (especially he looks in form in the role of Encounter King) and his stylish looks, Manisharma’s musical score and a part of the second half are enticing in this film.
Chakravarthy (Puneet Issar) is a military officer. He has two sons – Ranjith and Giri. He always scolds his younger son Giri for not shines in studies. Giri (played by Balakrishna) turns out to be a simple rustic young guy passing off time in the village. Ranjith (also played by Balakrishna) becomes an IPS officer and takes up charge as an ACP. Giri loves his cousin (maradalu) Subbalaxmi (Charmi) and romances with her, while Giri falls in love with Swathi (Katrina Kaif). Meanwhile, Ranjith contains anti-social activities of don cum Member of Parliament GK (Mukesh Rishi).
Enraged GK vows to take revenge on Ranjith and their family. After spending 15 years in prison on the wrong charges, Chakravarthy comes to his home. Ranjith knows that his father was wrongly charged by GK. On the other hand, GK hatches a plan to kill Ranjith but he escapes from it injuring severely. The rest of the film is all about how Giri the Allari Pidugu finishes off the mission in the end?
Performances
Hero Balakrishna has shown the variations in the dual roles with very ease. He looks dashing and manly in the role of ACP. And also costumes he has worn for the film have elevated him looking handsome. The role of Allari Pidugu is very easy for him to do. In the post interval scenes almost for an hour he makes the audiences glued to the seats with his performance and style. Katrina Kaif looks glamorous in the film though her character is not that lengthy. She has come a long way from her Mallishwari days. The bubbly Charmi oozes sex and shares much of the screen presence along with Balayya. Raghu Babu’s mannerism is good. Puneet Issar’s performance is overboard.
Analysis
The film starts off with a family orientation. The first half goes smoothly. In the second half the film takes real momentum with hero Balakrishna delivering good dialogues. But after a hour or so, it soon falters and turns topsyturvy. The film on the whole tests the patience of the audiences in the second half and in particularly towards the climax.
Parachoori Brothers’s tacky screenplay is the major problem. Sentiment scenes – the confrontation between father and son – are very mundane. Actually the father – son thread has not worked well for the film.
Normally, Balakrishna’s films are loaded with powerful dialogues but Parachoori Brothers’s dialogues have worked in only few scenes. As long as these oldies (Parachoori Brothers) dish out same formulaic screenplay and rotten dialogues and languish in 70's and 80's the films can't move forward.
On the technical side, it is music director Manisharma who scores brownie points with his good musical score. Nede Eenade..remix song, Maa Subbalaxmi, Chinuku laga..songs are in particularly good. Ajay Vincent’s cinematography is also appreciable. Digital grading is extensively used in this film. Director Jayanth has shown Balakrishna in very stylish manner but he is failed to capitalise it to full length.
JP's Verdict: It is a disappointment for Balayya's fans. |
