Profile of Star
Karishma Kapoor
Karishma has come a long way since her Sarkaiolo Khatiya days. And there is no doubt whatsoever that this woman is going nowhere but up hill. Her choice of roles has only become better with the times. Her brilliant performance in Shyam Benegals's Zubeida has proved this lady to be an actress of substance. Khalid Mohammad's Fiza ran in the same vein. That too was a film, which made every critic believe in the potential of this gorgeous actress. Truly, her sincerity, focus and talent are complimented by her ethereal good looks. This Rani Hindustani has learnt to fit into any role that is demanded of her whether it be a Zubeida or an Aashiq. She can make any movie move and shake. The blue-eyed damsel of tinsel town has been a sizzling star for many years in the commercial Bollywood industry. But Y2K has not been the best time for Lolo. With Dulhan Hum Le Jaenge, Chal mere Bhai, and Hum to Mohabbat Karega not having done too well at the box office, but in Y2K+1 Karishma showed her charisma in a different land and in a different form. Apparently in Fiza, the Kapoor beauty was looking fabulous and had a lovely role. She played a sister in search of her long lost brother, played by Hrithik. It sure was a challenging role for Karisma but with the kind of zeal and enthusiasm she displayed, one could only expect a hit. Even more challenging was Shyam Bengal's Zubeida. Lolo played Rakish Prince Manoj Bajpai's spoilt young second wife. Karisma has not lost her status as a top actress. In fact she still has a string of admirers in her directors who simply swear by her professionalism. Well, twinkle toes. Good going! Hope your latest shift from sizzling star to arty actress has many new surprises for both, yourself and us |
