CHIRALA
Textiles at Chirala are usually produced in
a mass scale. Oil is used in preparing the yarn for weaving. Once the fabric is ready, it
is wrapped with wax and clay before being dyed in select colors. Gorgeous Silk sarees of
Ikat technique, in attractive colour scheme and jewel designs on the pallu and border are
the pride of Andhra Pradesh. The fabric is also available for furnishings such as
bedspreads, curtains, tapestry, etc., that have great demand both in domestic and the
overseas market.
