Temple History

Sthalapuranam :

Legend says that the Narasimha here is Ugra Narasimha, fierce after killing the demon Hiranyakasapa. Thus, as an attempt to make him calm, the idol is covered with a coat of fresh sandal paste everyday throughout the year.

Fairs & Festivals :

Chandanotsavam
or ChandanaYatra is celebrated in the Telugu month Vaisakha every year. The cover of sandal paste accumulated on the deity through the daily sevas is then peeled off the image to give the devotees the "Nijaroopadarshan". After this 12 hours towards the end of the day, the idol is again smeared with sandal paste afresh.
