About the Temple :

Bhadrachalam, the abode of Lord Rama, is a major pilgrimage center for Hindus. The places worth seeing include –

    • Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple
    • The Parnashala

Sri Sitharama Swamy temple is situated on the left banks of the mighty river Godavari, at Bhadrachalam. The uniqueness of the temple lies in the idol of Lord Rama. Rama is seen with four hands with a bow long with Shankhu and Chakra, denoting the amalgamation of the two incarnations (Avatars) – Vishnu and Rama. Sita also is seen seated on Rama’s lap.

The Archya Murthys of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana are said to be Swayambhus (self manifested ones). The presence of these deities in the middle of the jungle was revealed to a pious woman called Dhammakka in a dream, who is considered to have offered the first worship to this God. She is also expected to be the first to initiate the temple structure.

Sita RamachandraSwamy Kalyanam performed on Chaitra suddha Navami coinciding with punarvasu star and karkataka lagna on the occasion of Sriramanavami gathers huge crowds from all over the country.
