Yi intended to create ‘Brand India’-CII – AP Chairman
Chairman of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) Andhra Pradesh Dr. G. Vivekanand today informed that the CII had created Young Indians (Yi) with an intention to involve youth of the nation in creating `brand India'. Yi provides them (youth) with the required platform to voice their views on matters of national importance, he explained.
Addressing a press conference here today, Dr. Vivekanand said that the Yi was created involving `Young Indians' from different walks of life to play an active role in development of India. As part of it, Yi had launched 2 Yi Akshara Resource centres and had organized 11 learning sessions. The first Yi District chapter in India was created in Chittoor. Besides, the CII's BYST (Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust) organization had supported over 150 young entrepreneurs who have in turn created employment to about 1,200 people. The BYST works with young people (aged between 18 and 35) who were either unemployed or underemployed, but with sound imaginative business ideas along with will and determination to succeed, he added.
Explaining the CII AP's activities during 2006-07, Dr. Vivekanand said that the theme of the year "Collaborate innovate inspire for inclusive sustainable growth and competitiveness" has mainly focussed on two things during the year (2006-07) which included building competitiveness and inspiring industry towards inclusive growth. The Confederation had taken various initiatives such as skill development initiative, rural business hubs, industry farmers interaction, HIV AIDS Industry intervention project, Yi Akshara across the region during the year. CII had successfully catered to the various needs of the industry to build an internal and external competitiveness through several learning and experience sharing sessions, he claimed.
Replying to a query, Director and Head of CII AP Dr. Saugat Mukherjee said that the Confederation had created several forums for business development in the state which included Conference on Natural Gas, Textiles forum, Exim Conference, opportunities in Retail in AP, telecom and broadband etc. The CII Andhra Pradesh with assistance from the State Government had increased its activities and visibility in Vizag, Vijayawada, Guntur and Tirupati during 2006-07, he added.
CII-AP Vice-Chairman Mr. Pradeep Dhobale was also present.
