Profile of Anaida

Anaida was one of the pioneers of Indi-Pop and began her career in 1995 with her hit single Hotline. This was also the first Indian single to be released. Her first album was Love Today Hai Nahin Asaan, which was also one of the highest selling debut albums of its time.

The other single to follow was the critically acclaimed Fever. The same year, she sang Diva--the title track for the Diva Awards. Nazuk Nazuk was released in 1996. The album featured the hit track Oova Oova. Her second video Hoo Halla Hoo was the first animated video to be produced in India.

This album established Anaida as a serious and talented singer. It was then that Walt Disney produced a version of one of their popular tracks in another language. Hakuna Matata from the film The Lion King was sung by Anaida and Baba Sehgal.

The same year Anaida did another duet with Syrian singer and songwriter Shukri for an original Arabic album O Malu Malu. This was the first original Arabic album by an Indi-Pop artist.

For India's 50 years of independence celebrations, Anaida sung Hum Sab Ek Hain. The video featured Bollywood stars like Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan.

In 1997, Greek pop star, classical pianist and composer Stefanos Korkolis invited Anaida to visit Greece to sing a duet for his album. The song was titled Anaida and was sung in Hindi as well as Greek. This will feature for the first time in The Greatest Hits of Anaida. In the same year Anaida sang an English song--Quest for the film Bombay Boys.

Chori Chori was released in 1999. The album was based on traditional folk music. The album did reasonably well.

After a couple of busy years and a whole bunch of hit compositions, a compilation of favourites was released and called Piya Bina and The Greatest Hits Of Anaida.
