KALISI
NADUDDAM , a reviewCast: Srikanth, Soundarya, Brahmanandam Director: Kodi Ramakrishan Producer: Burugu Shiva Rama Krishna Kodi Ramakrishna is synonymous to family and women oriented movies, imbibed as it is with sentimental & emotional scenes. His latest venture 'Kalisinadudam' runs on the same lines. The first half of the movie depicts the place allocated for woman in the present male dominated society and the second half deals with the role woman has to play to occupy her place. This movie depicts women in their traditional getup, just adhering to their husband and men in the pampering business. From here, the movie carries you to the point where women realise their self-esteem and set the things right. While seeing the movie, one can have a feel that the movie is going on the lines of 'Mavi Chiguru' a Telugu movie on the similar theme. The movie starts, depicting the place of women at various time periods and comes to today's stage where women is hampered of their progress by the opposite sex. Krishna Rao (Srikant) (Asst. Revenue Officer) is from a male dominated family. He weds Vijaya (Soundarya) a rational woman. The couple start staying in Hyderabad in a closely knit society where the other three main characters also make their living. One, an inferior husband (Brahmanandam), the other wanting to be different & acting like a hen -pecked husband (Sudhakar) and the third a hard core money lending husband. The story goes on like this : Krishna Rao with high yielding thoughts deposits the dowry amount in a private finance company, against Vijaya's wish and then goes on to take a loan against the guarantee of Vijaya's ornaments and invests in business and neglects his job. No sooner the Finance company is off the scene. As he resigned he takes further loan and invest in Real Estate Business, all against the wishes of his heartthrob. Now, Vijaya comes out of her shackles and points out her husbands failures. Krishna Rao challenges and asks her to run the family for 6 months on her own. Vijaya takes the challenge gracefully. Against all odds she goes on to climb the ladder of success. As it is, till now she has been safeguarding the pride of the whole family, but with no identity. Following her success, there is a revolution in the whole society. Women realise their self-esteem and ideally transform their respective families. Now, Krishna Rao is no more a businessman but, a pauper. The story in the end runs along expected lines. Kodi Ramakrishna's direction is the only saving grace for the movie, though hampered by some illogical comedy scenes. Stringent editing would have done the movie better. S A Raj Kumar's music is not bad, but even after taking a tune from 'Sangam' (Hindi) starring Raj Kumar & Dilip Kumar, the music failed to keep the audience glued. In the department of lyrics too, Sitarama Shastry, Veturi & company were not at their best. The role played by Soundarya has historic potential, but not much scope for the role-played by Srikant. Brahmanandam, Sudhakar, Mallikarjun, L B Sriram & Narayana essayed seasoned performances. On the whole, a movie worth watching. But only for those who can easily get through Kodi Ramakrishna's movies. |
